Whenever I get asked why my husband and I moved back to the Midwest, specifically to Grand Haven, I tell them I had three high priority ticket items on my "want" list.. and Grand Haven was the only location to check them all off. One of the items on that list was that it felt like the perfect small town to raise a family in.

When you picture a Hallmark Movie type of small midwest town with a bustling and involved community, wonderful local businesses to support, and the most picturesque downtown, Grand Haven is is it. And that's why it is also one of the best places to visit with your family! A large chunk of families I host for family photography sessions are in town for a vacation. I am a huge advocate for getting pictures taken to capture your family during this time. You're all in one spot, a beautiful spot nonetheless, and are (hopefully) happy and stress free since you're away from the "real world."

Grand Haven's downtown area located on their main street "Washington Avenue" is a well kept street full of flowerbeds, historic architecture, pops of color, and sits right on the Grand River. It is a wonderful place to take family portraits if you lean towards a more urban style. The Frye family and I visited Washington Ave at the peak of fall and were able to document not only the stage of life they are in as a family, but the most gorgeous autumn colors, too. We were so lucky!

I am eternally grateful for this new home of mine and so excited to keep getting to use it as a gorgeous backdrop to photograph so many amazing people in.
